From Planner Kaleb Norman James… Lake Como is one of the places where it feels like time somehow, just kind of stopped. Where the character, charm and stories of it’s history remain ever present, waiting to be retold and continued. The richness of these experiences and the remarkable surroundings were the only inspiration needed for this shoot.
The towering green hills and aged orange/yellow tones of the surrounding villas set the mood for our color palette, while the architecture and lush foliage set the tone for the design. Villa Del Balbianello leaves little to be desired, so rather than competing with it, we simply embraced it.
We brought rich embroidery into the linens to mimic the balustrades and doorways of the Villa, and embraced a more traditional, old-world calligraphy for the invitations with old prints and paints of Como throughout.
The Villa’s wisteria trees were at peak bloom and inspired some of the accent tones with the jewelry and detailing in the gowns, while we kept the groom in a simpler look, with neutral tones in the jacket and shoes, pulling in the rich stone work colors throughout.
