Dolce & Gabana Was the Inspiration for this Gorg Wedding

If you took my personality and somehow translated completely into a wedding…this is what I would look like. The lovely photographer, Shannon Moffit, literally never disappoints but this little gem that she sent our way? Yeah, it’s like really good. A splash of modern, a splash of hippie, joy and love and FUN permeating every image. This wedding – designed by Pow Wow with flowers by The Blooming Gypsy – is exactly who I want to be when I grow up. Really cool, without taking myself too seriously. From the bride… It was very serendipitous how it all worked out. We first met on a subway platform; we both missed our trains and began talking as we waited, he was very charming. We never exchanged numbers and I figured we’d never see each other again. Four years later, my company brought him on as a consultant; I recognized him the second he walked into my office. Fast forward one year and he proposed while on vacation in Saint Lucia as the sun was setting behind the Piton mountains.

I work in finance, so designing the wedding became an incredible creative outlet for me. The laid-back, elegant aesthetic of the Avalon Hotel & Bungalows Palm Springs provided the perfect backdrop and destination for our guests – who were nearly all New Yorkers. My vision was inspired by a series of still-life paintings and various Dolce & Gabbana ad campaigns. I wanted a romantic, funky fusion of baroque and boho-Cali styles.

From Shannon Moffit PhotographyHannah and Chris are the type of couple you can’t help but love–they are sweet, fun-loving, and have the most amazing style. Hannah dazzled in a custom Rivini dress, with bell sleeves and intricate lace detail and Chris wore an electric blue tux to complete the ensemble. They said their vows under quintessential Palm Springs palm trees at The Avalon, and danced the night away at their intimate courtyard reception. The space was decorated in a boho-meets-glam style, with gorgeous gem-colored florals, summer fruits, and black tapered candles. Pops of hot pink in the flowers, Hannah’s shoes, Chris’ socks, and the furniture at the reception added just a little bit of quirkiness and pulled it all together.
