Lake Michigan Inspired Affair

The main reason that Sara and Eric decided on the Pilot House at Discovery World for their wedding reception was because of the incredible 360 degree views of Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s beautiful Calatrava. From almost every spot in the room, you can see the blue waters of the lake with the Milwaukee skyline in the background. They were both insistent that when designing the overall look for their big day, the amazing views were showcased. Impressions by Esther Fleming created an assortment of all glass vessels that left unobstructed views of the lake. With natural light bouncing off the glass, the entire room took on a light, airy sparkle and the jewel -toned blooms helped create a feeling that was reminiscent of a lush fall garden. ~ The Bride Consultant

From The Bride ConsultantWhen I first met with Sara and Eric, they both talked about their love for the outdoors and how they wanted to showcase their favorite Milwaukee things for all of their out-of-town guests. These two key elements played into many of the design decisions and their entire wedding day, from their venue selection to their food choices.

The main reason why Sara and Eric decided on the Pilot House at Discovery World for their venue was because of the incredible 360 degree views of Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s beautiful calatrava. From almost every spot in the room, you can see the blue waters of the lake with the Milwaukee skyline in the background. They were both insistent that when designing the centerpieces and overall look for their big day, they wanted to showcase and highlight these amazing views. I worked with their florist, Impressions by Esther Fleming, to create centerpieces using all glass. With an assortment of these glass vessels, guests’ views of the lake were not obstructed. On top of that, they created a light and airy feeling throughout the entire space. The natural light bounced off the glass to give the entire room a certain sparkle. These glass centerpieces were filled with lush, jewel-toned blooms that helped to create a feeling that was reminisce of a fall garden.

Since Sara and Eric met at University of Minnesota, a lot of their guests were from outside of Milwaukee. They wanted to show their guests some of the amazing (and not so healthy) cuisine that Milwaukee is famous for! This included appetizers of Wisconsin fried cheese curds, Simma’s famous cheesecake for dessert, and Gilles’s custard as a late night snack. The entire evening was filled with just as much love as laughter. Sara’s dad (and even the priest) made jokes around Sara’s love for the Green Bay Packers and Eric’s love for the Minnesota Vikings, which included exchanging gifts of Brett Favre jerseys, Eric wearing a cheesehead, and some Viking’s chants. Everything about Sara and Eric’s wedding was so reflective of what they loved together as a couple, which is what made their wedding so incredibly personal!
