From Dana Cubbage WeddingsIf I were to ever get married again, I’m pretty sure that my wedding would look very similar to Maureen and Richard’s.  Classic black and white stripes paired with bright citrus-y florals and gold accents?  Yes, please!  I may or may not have been drooling over their breathtaking florals, carefully curated details, and how perfectly it all came together on their gorgeous wedding day. Maureen described her wedding vision to me as Kate Spade meets garden party, and that is exactly what she got!

We started their day with a sweet first look in the French Quarter of downtown Charleston. After portraits downtown, we headed to Hampton Park for more photos, then met up with the bridal party and the couple’s families for group photos.  Maureen and Richard said, “I do!” at Summerall Chapel at the Citadel, then headed over to Cannon Green for their beautiful reception. Guests were treated to a seated dinner then kept the dance floor packed all night. I have to say that Maureen and Richard know how to throw a pretty fabulous party!  It was an absolutely amazing day, and I’m so honored to have been the one chosen to document such a great day for Maureen, Richard, their family, and their friends.

From the bride… Our design aesthetic was “Kate Spade meets garden wedding.” We had lots of bold black and white stripes, pops of gold, and tons of bright flowers. We didn’t want all of the same old flowers either, we really wanted to use unique flowers and flower combinations. We wanted our wedding to be polished yet fun with tons of classic, Southern accents! I personally LOVE monograms – I love that quote about monogramming anything that sits still long enough! – so we incorporated lots of monogrammed details throughout the wedding. I had some cocktail napkins made with our monogram, koozies, a cake topper, etc. In particular at the wedding rehearsal and then to an extent at the wedding, we included pineapples as a nod to Charleston hospitality. We also made quite a few things for the wedding.

We wanted to keep our guest list smaller, trying to keep it intimate and let it really be about us and the wedding itself. My family is very important to me, so I invited all of them to be a part of our wedding. My sisters and sister-in-law were my bridesmaids, my brother was one of Richard’s groomsmen, my older nephews were our ushers, my three youngest nieces were the flower girls, the older nieces were our junior bridesmaids, and then my youngest nephew was the ring bearer.
