From East Made Event Company… On a 14 degree day during Baltimore’s early 2018 winter, 140 lucky guests cozied together in the warm and glowing Baltimore Museum of Art to celebrate the nuptials of Meredith and Michael. Walking up the front museum steps into Fox Court, guests were greeted by a string trio and candlelight, and were surrounded by grand, Ionic columns and some of the world’s most beautiful art.
Meredith and Michael first met when they were just four years old, at a friend’s birthday party in their hometown of Falls Church, Virginia. They knew each other throughout their youth, and started dating during their senior year in high school, when they were both point guards for their respective Varsity basketball teams. After college, both taught public school in New Orleans before moving back to the DC area to attend graduate school; Michael in business, and Meredith in museum studies. With Meredith’s interest in art and the beautiful museums who house it, choosing the Baltimore Museum of Art as their wedding venue made perfect sense.
Meredith was one of our most elegant and fashionable brides, donning her mother’s black velvet, vintage wedding dress, impeccably tailored, for her rehearsal dinner, and then surprising us on her wedding day with emerald green velvet Jimmy Choo heels. The V-shaped peekaboo under-arm cutouts in her Mikaella gown added a modern twist to her classic winter wedding style; the perfect modern compliment to Michael’s black tuxedo.
Our couple’s color palette was inspired by Meredith’s favorite scalloped print, seen most prominently on the envelope liner of the invitation suite by Stephanie B Design. The print colors of blush, grey, and dusty slate blue were woven throughout the wedding along with gold and greenery, and the scalloped arches in the print mimicked both the arched windows of the museum as well as the marble tile place cards at each place setting.
Meredith and Michael also worked with Rouge Catering to build four different menu entrées, unique to each city where they have lived or will honeymoon – Falls Church, New Orleans, Baltimore, and Rome. From crab cakes, to gnocchi, to beignets, guests were transported around the globe, from dinner through dessert. Blush velvet linens on the long tables and ivory shantung on the round tables also added to the luxurious winter feel. All of these personalized details perfectly suited the couple, their venue, and the winter season, making every aspect of this gorgeous wedding elegantly theirs.
