Hi SMP Readers! I'm Erin Grey, the blogger behind Style by the People. I like to think of my blog as a creative space to share my personal style tips, traveling adventures, and daily life. I’ve always had a strong sense of style and tend to steer clear of trends, which is something I’m really excited to portray on my special day. That said, when Style Me Pretty reached out about an opportunity to be a Blogger Bride, I was not only honored, but I also said yes before I even learned all that it entailed. My blog is a place where I can truly be my authentic self. A place where I can share not only my go-to outfits, but my everyday adventures, too. And planning a wedding is an adventure that I’m more excited about than anything ever before.

But, before we get started on all that, I wanted to give you all the backstory on my fiancé Matt and I and how our lovely engagement went down.

Our Story
After years and years of dating the wrong guys (sorry mom and dad), I woke up one day with a new outlook on life. I knew I deserved something different than the type of guys I had been dating, and decided to see what that meant and go after it. While doing this, I learned my worth, the true meaning of self-love, and that I deserved nothing less than perfect. Months later, I met Matt. At the time, I was having a blast with my girlfriends and wasn’t sure I wanted a relationship to slow me down. But Matt was different – he was genuinely interested in me…the real me. He planned dates ahead of time, held the door for me, called instead of texted, and took a genuine interest in my friends and family. Needless to say, he quickly won me over.

Engagement
One of the best things about my relationship with Matt is our mutual love of travel. We love nothing more than experiencing new cultures, new food, new people – you name it. So as you can imagine, I was super-excited when he told me he was taking me on a 2-week trip to Spain and Italy to celebrate my birthday and our 5-year anniversary. When we arrived at the airport, Matt surprised me right after we went through the security line, presenting me with the most beautiful radiant cut ring (it was exactly what I had dreamed of and more). The tears started streaming, I, of course, said yes, and we embarked on the most amazingly romantic 2-week vacation as fiancés (by the way, I still pinch myself when I say that word)!
