I’ve been to the 1Hotel in Miami before so when this Bride stated that her and her future hubby were inspired by its gorgeous space… I knew exactly what she meant (it’s stunning to say the least). With that style in mind, they went ahead creating a wedding that was minimalist yet so magical. Kate Ignatoskwi captured it all for our lucky eyes – see more pics below and in our gallery right this way!
From the Bride… To be honest, when we started thinking about planning our wedding, all we knew was that we wanted to throw an awesome party and have a vibe that would be true to us as a couple: simple and fun!
While we are both coincidentally from Singapore, Andrew and I were set up on a blind date here in NYC and knew we wanted to celebrate somewhere in the city (also for the convenience factor!). We had went on vacation to Miami where we stayed at the 1Hotel and were obsessed with the space: minimalist, eco-friendly, and truly thoughtful service. When we found out they would be opening a 1Hotel by the Brooklyn Bridge in 2017, we knew that would be the perfect venue for our wedding. During our first visit to the event space, we wore construction hats in the dead of winter, but could already tell that it would be beautiful upon completion. The actual event space was even more beautiful than we had imagined, with marble, concrete and wood embedded with lush greenery.
Our personal aesthetic is modern: I love neutral tones, greys, asymmetry, and natural light. We left most of the actual planning to my super helpful planner, Melissa, who was able to take our idea of a “minimalist space” and turn it into a reality. On the day itself, the weather turned out perfect, and we were able to do our ceremony semi-outside overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge in front of a cool floral installation on the rocks by our fantastic florist Bourgeon. The wedding day itself flew by because we were having SO much fun with our family and friends! Fortunately, we have the most beautiful photographs by Kate to remember ALL the moments. The food, drinks, cake, service were all amazing – everyone was happily fed and hydrated. :)
