This Inspiration Shoot Is Everything We’re Dreaming of This Year

To all you pretties who got engaged this holiday season, congratulations, and let the wedding inspiration begin! There’s no better way to kick off 2018 than with this inspiration shoot. Dreamed up by The Nouveau Romantics and captured by the always brilliant lens of Jose Villa Photography, it’s everything we’re wanting in weddings for the new year and more. Think three ridiculously chic gowns, original yet uber-romantic bouquets by Running Wild Florals, and modern typography by K. Rawson that’ll have you obsessing. Get all the modern, minimal, monochromatic romance you’ve been craving right here in the full gallery.

From The Nouveau RomanticsIn its simplest form, this monochromatic editorial shoot took roots from the pleats, folds, and striking silhouettes of Toni Maticevski’s bridal gowns. Taking cues from the graceful simplicity of his dresses, the vision of a perfect venue emerged: a simple, all-white, concrete venue stands as the perfect backdrop for a couple looking to contrast a cool, monochromatic, and minimal space with the warmth of soft, romantic details for an inviting experience for their guests. Playing with transparency, layering, and subtle contrast became the conceptual foundation, while a mixed palette of white, cream, bone, with touches of dove grey and a hint of blush fleshed out the design direction inspiration.

Kaela Rawson’s paper goods set the stage with a simple yet striking modern design that saw a mix of white, cream, blush, and ochre papers that created a luxe experience with simple and cost effective digital printing. The physical decor and table design began with layered whites, creams, and bone from the oatmeal velvet table linen and ice white napkin from La Tavola, to the Casa De Perrin flatware and mix of white and ivory Creative Candle taper candles. Transparency and reflectivity via the acrylic candle holders, Casa de Perrin Charger, and Crate and Barrel glass plates created a beautiful and dynamic experience by reflecting the colors, textures, and candlelight as you moved across the table.

Running Wild Florals added the intricate and feminine details of romantic florals that contrasted perfectly with the simple and modern design. Her florals were a simple mix of cream roses, tulips, spray painted arctic white hellebores (which highlighted their shape), and blush anthuriums that tied together the blush Casa de Perrin glassware. Finally, Kaela Rawson’s custom designed menu added another shade of white with a dusty blush pink ink which was the perfect graphic pop to the entire table design.

The bridal fashion we selected for this editorial was grounded in the play of mixing architectural details with a delicate feminine detail – be it in the Heidi Gibson rings, the Running Wild Floral bouquets and ceremony florals, or the Costarellos tea-length lace gown. The mixing between simplicity and ornamentation is one of my favorite ways to create an elegant, sophisticated look. Overall, we are excited to see a trend of simpler, modern yet feminine designs grace the minds and weddings of brides in 2018!
