You may be contemplating if you really want to have a videographer at your wedding. It’s an expense but it may be so worth it for your big day. If you answer yes to one or more of the questions below, you may want to seriously consider budgeting for a videographer. Josh Gooden, videographer of 31 Films, weighs in as you consider your options.
Do you want to re-live toasts, prayers and the officiant’s message?
“Most couples forget that video is not just visually driven, but predominately audio driven,” Gooden said. They forget that audio is one of the key components to wedding videos that allows them to not only see the whole detail of each moment, but hear the reactions, laughs, pep talks, and everything else. Photos show you what things looked like, but videos completely transport you back to those special moments.
Are you having an intimate destination wedding or a cultural wedding?
Small destination weddings place the family gatherings and wedding celebrations in a beautiful scenic place. “With intimate weddings, the guest list is typically limited to their closest family and very dear friends,” Gooden said. Film will capture the exchanges between the closest friends and family members that will be a beautiful addition to any wedding video.
For cultural weddings, there are many amazing moments and traditions you don’t want to miss.”There is often a lot to capture and I believe you can share a lot more context through audio and video,” Gooden said.
Are you stressing that your wedding day will fly by too fast?
If so, you’re not far off in your worries. “The day will go by in the blink of an eye, so make sure to enjoy yourself to the fullest.,” Gooden said. While you will try your best to enjoy it to the fullest and be present in the moment, it can be hard to do if you’re constantly worrying that time is slipping away.
Having a videographer will put your mind at ease. You’ll be able to live your day completely present knowing that your day will be captured through film for you and your loved ones to re-live for the rest of your lives.
A wedding day is a story you’ll want to relive for the rest of your life.”The most important thing, as a couple, is to remember that the day is a celebration,” said Gooden.
Think about how you want your wedding story to be told, and how it can be a true celebration for you, your spouse, and your guests. The answer may be “through film”.
