The Surprising Reason Millennials Are Opting Out Of Expensive Engagement Rings

A huge part of the proposal is that big sparkly engagement ring! Women spend hours pinning dreamy rings on Pinterest and scouring the web for the perfect cut.... or at least we thought! According to a recent study conducted by WP Diamonds, 76% of women surveyed would rather spend money toward the down payment of a home or a car over a traditional diamond engagement ring. That's not to say we are seeing the traditional engagement rings going away, but there is a shift happening in what millennials are deeming important. Of the surveyed women, over 50% were millennials (ages 18-35) who indicated less desire to have an expensive engagement ring. We've noticed some celebs are onto this trend as well. For example, Amanda Seyfried's engagement ring is a simple gold band and Mila Kunis rocks a simple wedding band from Etsy while keeping her original ring in a safety deposit box.

We love this trend as well, so much so that we've pulled together gorgeous yet modest engagement rings all under $1000! Click through the gallery below and let us know what you think!
