New York fashion designer Reem Acra debuted her Spring 2018 collection of bridal gowns inspired by the heritage and craftsmanship of the internationally renowned jeweler, Tiffany & Co. United by their common cause of making brides-to-be look and feel their most glamorous, Reem Acra presented an array of bridal gowns with a fashion show at the iconic Tiffany Fifth Avenue flagship store, dually kicking off New York Bridal Fashion Week and Acra's 20th anniversary.
In true Acra fashion, the show began with an unexpected twist. The first nine models - who entered the runway from elevators that mimicked the signature Tiffany's blue jewelry box - donned black gowns inspired by the historied setting. The remaining 28 dazzling looks showcased Acra's ability to combine tradition with a modern aesthetic; redefining the luxury bridal market with each breathtaking design.
After studying the the finest details of various jewelry creations, including the storied Tiffany Diamond, Acra drew upon many Tiffany masterpieces while designing the collection. Sculpted and cut-out bodice details reflect the intricacies of ornate platinum metalwork juxtaposed with the power and vibrancy of Tiffany yellow diamonds. Looping and scrolling bands of geometric diamonds in ribbon and bow motifs inspire romantic embellishments on sheer sleeves, necklines and tulle overlays, while the brilliance of Tiffany’s legendary gemstones Morganite and Kunzite add a blush tone to the mostly traditional color palette.
