They say everything is bigger in Texas and lucky for us, that includes the peonies. The bride, Allie made sure her bouquet included the fluffiest pink blooms you ever did see and it made for some incredible photos and video by The Bird And The Bear. From the Bride… After Jeremy and I got engaged and began talking about what we envisioned for our big day and decided we wanted a truly intimate wedding. We wanted those that have been a part of our relationship for the past five years there by our side, as we became husband and wife. We were in a long distance relationship for almost 3 years so our friends and family were an integral part in supporting our relationship and commitment to each other.
We instantly fell in love with Ian’s Chapel at Camp Lucy and knew it would give us the warm and intimate setting we imagined. We wanted all of our guests to spend the weekend on-site of the beautiful property and enjoy their luxurious cabins while they got to know each other better over wine and s’mores by the fire pit.
When it came to the vision of our wedding day I wanted everything to glow. As my fiancé so eloquently put it we wanted to create “intimate elegance.” (Pretty impressive for a man’s man.) I wanted romance everywhere you looked, in the candles, in the flower petals lining the aisle, and the sparkling chandeliers that lined our long farm table under the gorgeous pavilion of Camp Lucy. I wanted to create a space for close family and friends to laugh, love, and create lasting memories.
Including sentimental details was particularly important for me, as my grandparents have passed with the exception of one living grandmother who is in poor health. My mother’s parents were married for over 60 years and have a beautiful and classic World War II love story that will never be forgotten. Jeremy had my engagement ring made from her diamonds, which is so precious to me. She gave both myself and my sister pearl covered bibles to carry with us on our wedding day and her locket with a WWII picture of my grandfather was wrapped around my bouquet as I walked down the aisle.
As many brides understand, our wedding day was a blur. But oh, what a beautiful blur it was. I have so many favorite moments to choose from on that day. Being surrounded by my mom and bridesmaids in the bridal cottage just minutes away from walking down the aisle and being serenaded to “Going to the Chapel” while they danced around was at the top of my list. These girls always know how to calm my nerves. Of course, my handsome groom tops the list and seeing him standing at the end of the aisle was everything I ever dreamt it would be. Stealing small moments with him between pictures and sharing a toast during my hairstyle change were some of my favorite moments.
When the whirlwind of pictures, dress bustling, and hair changes were done we were seated at our gorgeous table for dinner and we shared a moment of taking it all in. This moment epitomizes what that day was about. Everything was perfect. The glowing candles and chandeliers, the stunning floral arrangements, a perfect cool breeze on a November hill country evening, laughter coming from every direction, and champagne bubbles filling everyone’s glasses. My handsome groom looked over adoringly at me and we both felt the magic of that moment. Being surrounded by those closest to us, and realizing we were finally husband and wife was a feeling I know neither of us will ever forget.
