Big Sur Engagement After a Long Distance Love Affair
This is my kind of e-sesh... bare feet in the sand, unreal views that will take your breath away and the sweetest hand-holding. Not to mention, this gorgeous Bride-to-be is on our west coast team. A little extra excuse to pop the bubbly and sit with this gallery from Christine Donee for a while longer. Also, don't miss her charming story below of how they met!
From the Bride-to-be... Meeting in remote destinations, red-eye flights, and a sense of adventure was how Nick and I started our relationship five years ago. We dated for three years long distance between New York City (where I was an entertainment editor) and Hawaii (where Nick worked at Pearl Harbor), and somewhere between all the distance between us we just kept getting closer.
It only seemed fitting when Nick proposed in one of my favorite places in New York City's Central Park, that we take engagement photos in one of our favorite destinations together -- Big Sur, California. The rugged coastline, sweeping views of the Pacific, lush green bluffs, and the wild open of the California air were definitely calling. Thankfully, our incredible photographer Christine Donee was up for the adventure!
The early part of the day was rainy and blustery and as Nick and I drove the 5 hours up California's Highway 1 in order to meet Christine in a remote section near Julia Pfeiffer State Park "just in time for magic hour" the hour was looking less than magical with storm clouds rolling in. And then in a twist of pure west coast magic, the storm clouds scattered away and we were lucky enough to get 1 hour of beautiful Big Sur weather for shots along the beaches and bluffs.
And then just like that we were off again, with me jetting off on a red-eye to Nashville to be on the red carpet at the CMA Awards the next morning and Nick headed to Los Angeles.
We're so grateful to Christine for being able to capture this magic moment, where for a little while, time and distance seemed to stand still. We're getting hitched in spring in 2017 in the equally gorgeous destination of Santa Ynez, California.
