‘Tis the season of proposals, so we couldn’t think of a better time to kick-off a wedding planning journey with our newest blogger bride, Paige of Studio Bicyclette. Paige is a creative girl boss with a total knack for styling so you can expect her big day to be off the charts. Scroll below to read her proposal story and hear what she’s got in the works for her DIY wedding!
Hello, SMP-ers and fellow brides-to-be! Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself — I’m Paige, owner and creative director of Studio Bicyclette, former boutique owner, inspiration board obsessive and pink lipstick lover.
I help other lifestyle brands and boutique businesses find their magic, style their brand and tell their story through beautiful, strategic content, which means that I spend a good portion of my work days building dreamy inspiration boards and creating captivating content. But there’s one creative project I’m especially excited to dive into, which brings us to why I’m here today — my wedding!
My fiancé, Jason, and I got engaged just over a year ago, and after a fairly long engagement, we’re just starting to plan the details of the event, for which the date is set in August 2017. Jason and I met in the summer of 2013. We had decided to produce a short video called 90 Days that would celebrate summer in the city, and Jason was part of the video team that we brought on to work on it. It sounds a little cliché, but over the course of the weekend of filming our little on-screen romance, our real life love story began, and it was a bit of a whirlwind from there.
The wedding will be a small celebration at my family’s cottage in northern Ontario, and because of my background and love for all things styling and design, I’ll be doing a lot of it myself, along with the help of many of my talented local friends in the wedding industry that I have the pleasure of working with regularly, and who I’ll also be asking to share their own valuable insight with you as we embark on this journey.
I’m excited to share the process of dreaming up the vision for the wedding as well as pulling together all of the details, and since I’ll be doing a lot of the DIY planning and styling, you can expect backstage access to what planning a smaller, fairly non-traditional affair looks like. We’re currently in talks with a taco truck for catering, my first wedding-related purchase was a flock of tiny, rose gold tipped swans, and I’ve made the decision that I’ll be working closely with a local designer to create my dream dress, so that gives you a sense of what to expect!
I have a pretty intense love affair with fresh flowers, disco balls and all things whimsical, so you can expect a lot of inspiration gathering, color palette development, and DIY projects that tie those elements in. I can’t wait to bring you along behind the scenes as I embark on this new adventure!
