From the Bride…As for how we chose our wedding destination, Matthew and I realized when we first started looking at venues, we thought we would want a resort so we flew to Puerto Rico and visited 6 different resorts. They were all very lovely but we did not connect with them and thought they were too unreasonable priced for what we would get. We envisioned having a place to call home where we could reside with our closest family and friends and celebrate our wedding week. We decided to randomly email “large houses” all over the world and we narrowed the results to 3 villas all located in 3 different countries: St. Martin in the Caribbean, Mykonos in the Greek Isles, and Lucca in Italy. I decided against St. Martin because I cannot hang out at the beach for more than a couple of days before getting bored. Matthew decided against Mykonos because it has a reputation for being a “party town.” So, we both decided on Borgo Benni in Lucca because who doesn’t love Italy? We wanted our wedding guests to make a vacation out of it and Italy would allow everyone to do just that. We rented the villa without ever visiting and seeing it beforehand. We just put our faith in love and hope for the best outcome.
