You know you have a slight obsession with someone’s work when you find yourself countless photos deep into their Instagram. I’m slightly embarrassed to say that’s me with floral designer Kiana Underwood of Tulipina. But one look at her gorgeous floral works of art, and you’ll be right there with me. Today, we’re giving you a taste of all that pretty with this breathtaking workshop captured by Rebecca Yale — trust me, you don’t want to miss any of it.
From Tulipina… In addition to high-end bespoke weddings and events, Kiana Underwood of Tulipina is well-known for her gorgeous domestic and international workshops – including visits to Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, and soon Italy this year. For nearly all of Kiana Underwood’s group and private workshops, she loves to put together a styled shoot toward the end of the last day of class to highlight the work that has been created and leave the student(s) with a memorable addition to their portfolio. She says that there is “nothing more fulfilling than creating a beautiful scene with flowers, props, gowns, and a model (or models) after a day or two of hard work.”
For this private class with Polina Babina of Vancouver-based Floretta, Kiana put together a magical scene using some wonderful vintage furniture from Pieces by Violet, and for the installation, chose to decorate a beautiful vintage easel with locally grown flowers from a tiny but mighty dahlia farm in Santa Cruz, CA. With dresses styled by Annie Cavallo, bridal boudoir by Girl and a Serious Dream, and photographer Rebecca Yale’s keen eye for beauty, they were able to create a wonderful setting for model Elise to lounge and luxuriate in and amongst a sea of floral beauty.
