Leave it to Downey Street Events to plan a wedding that’s unlike anything we’ve seen. From the Bride…
How We Met
AJ’s Uncle Bob was my High School history teacher and I became life-long friends with his two sons, Mike and Matt. AJ moved in with his cousin Mike shortly after college. It wasn’t until then, that Mike had the bright idea of putting his match-making skills to the test. Our first meeting included a dinner party with mutual friends, Cards of Humanity and AJ accidentally spraying red wine all over the ceiling.
Engagement
Christmas has always been my favorite holiday and a time that we both love sharing with family and friends. AJ proposed Christmas morning, while opening gifts, at my childhood home in Walnut Grove, CA. Both of our families were present and his grandparents from Texas even flew in for the surprise!
Wedding Details
AJ and I both grew up on a chain of islands situated in the Sacramento/San Joaquin River Delta, this was the inspiration behind our seating chart. We had a custom map designed of all the islands. Each guests name tag had their name and their corresponding latitude/longitude coordinates. The guest would find their name tag, go up to the map, follow their coordinates and see which island they were sitting on. Each table was named a different island.
