From Sapphire EventsThe first time that Barclay laid eyes on Lia it was love at first site, but it wasn’t until one year later that they finally went on their first date. As a couple they shared a passion for travel and cuisine. Their relationship quickly progressed as they moved to Italy for 6 months and then moved back to the states but were long distance while Barclay lived in New York for culinary school and Lia worked in Austin. Their first trip as a couple was to New Orleans so they knew that this was the only place that they would ever dream of getting married. The couple said their vows at the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church in front of their closest family and friends ending their ceremony with a second line to their reception at the Board of Trade. Lia and Barclay had a southern magnolia wedding cake and a croquembouche in lieu of a grooms cake with the same cake topper that was used at Barclay’s grandparents wedding. The couple danced the night away with music performed by Azz Izz and partied in true New Orleans fashion concluding the night with another second line led by Mardi Gras Indians with a final destination of the historic French Quarter.
