From the Bride...When H.Clay and I decided to get married (in the midst of medical school) we knew that we would need a non-extravagant day. We sat down and talked about what was really important to us—family and the commitment. We made a decision to focus on what matters most, and I am so thankful that we did.
My favorite part of the day would definitely have to be the first few moments after the ceremony, after we had actually made the commitment. We just were so giddy and excited about what had just happened.
My advice to newly engaged gals (by the way, CONGRATS!) would be absolutely follow your heart. Find the three most important things to you and your fiancé and focus your time and money there. H.Clay and I knew that we wanted an intimate day to focus on one another and our families. We also wanted stellar photography and videography. Don't get me wrong, there were moments throughout our engagement where I lost sight of these things and began to question an intimate destination wedding. But as soon as our wedding day began I was grateful-- Grateful that we followed our hearts (and our guts), grateful that our day was so laid-back and meaningful, and grateful for the sweet moments with our families.
My only other piece of advice to new brides would be—find vendors that you would be friends with! Things will go much smoother when you are on the same page. Carri from Mac and B events was AMAZING and I always felt like I was talking to my girlfriend. Also, our photographer, Joelle was my good friend already and she knew exactly what I hoped for on our wedding day. She captured our giddiness, excitement and love to a T. Most of all, savor every second of your day!
