This Bride’s DIY Gown is GENIUS

I’ve seen a lot of crafty brides in my day, but a beautiful bride who transformed her off the rack gown with a fabulous tulle skirt? That’s an awesome first.  Together with her handsome hubs, she celebrated their “I do’s” with the sweetest farm affair filled to the brim with rustic, DIY details.  See every moment captured amazingly by Cappy Hotchkiss Photography in THE VAULT right here.

From Cappy Hotchkiss Photography… Caitlinn is a wedding photographer in New York, a fabulous wedding photographer, and she met Brian, a handsome South African at a wedding that she was photographing in the Hudson Valley.

This was truly a DIY wedding. The bride did everything including creating her wedding dress from an off the rack strapless dress and then, with help from her grandmother, added a tulle over skirt.

She borrowed a 70-year-old jade and pearl necklace from her grandmother which she wore as a head band.

Her flowers were ordered from South Africa and mixed with local flowers and put together by a friend.

She and her friends made the flower crowns worn by the flower girls, made the flower petal cones, and her Mom and grandma made the adorable cakes which her friend decorated with wildflowers collected around the farm property.

The Guest book was a Leather handcrafted book with Map of South Africa created by “Maps on Leather” (based in Spain.)

The bouquet design was by Erin Peterson Layumas. (Erin used to be a florist, she has Liver cancer and had to stop, she created my bouquets as a favor to me. Caitlinn shot her wedding for free in 2014 due to her illness and they have become very close friends ever since.)
