A Wedding Held in the Home Built By The Bride and Her Mother

It’s not everyday that we get to witness a wedding that takes place at the Mother of the Bride’s home, so when we do we tend to cherish it – big time. Because the sentiment? Major. The sweet details? Aplenty. Take this culturally chic celebration planned by Anne Book Event Design. From the sweetest ceremony you’ve ever seen to the lovely lit reception, Judy Pak has got it all waiting for you in The Vault!

From Anne Book Event DesignThe 75 guest wedding took place at the waterfront home of the mother of the bride on Maryland’s Shore. They are a mother- daughter architect team and the mother designed the house. The entire wedding incorporated the bride’s Indian Heritage and the Groom’s Scottish heritage while embracing the local flavors and setting of The Eastern Shore.

There was a hurricane coming up the coast all week and the couple had to make quick decisions. They went from a sailcloth tent to frame tent with sides, installed heaters and a custom wooden wall to block the forecasted 30 MPH winds all 3 days before the wedding. In the end, the weather ended up being fine and everything turned out wonderfully.

Some of my favorite details were the individual cloches place cards that covered the amuse bouche, the driftwood structure that was designed and built by the couple for their ceremony, and the cocktail hour surrounding the modern pool and the custom invitation suite, and welcome gifts. Everything for this wedding was custom down to the hand dipped concrete floral containers to match the home.
