The Cool Girl Double Half Bun Tutorial
We all know a "cool girl." The girl who leaves the house in T-shirts and ripped jeans but somehow looks like she hopped off a NYFW runway. The girl who has perfectly-unperfect down to a science. And the only thing consistently chicer than this it-girl's style?! Her hair. A tad-messy and totally pretty, it's the kind of 'do that looks like it could've taken an hour, but you know it only took 5 minutes. Lucky for us, bonafide cool girl Emily Barton of Designed Elegance is spilling her secrets to create this Instagram-worthy style! Follow step-by-step, straight from the lens of Kelsey Albright Photography below!

CURL HAIR: Start by curling your whole head of hair with a 1.5 inch curling iron.

SECTION HAIR + PULL INTO A HALF-UP: Take a small section of hair from the top of your head and pull it into a small elastic band, creating a half-up look.

CREATE "TOPSY TAIL": Next, take the section of the hair in the elastic band and divide it in half. With your fingers, pull the section of hair through the middle part. This motion creates the twist look, or "topsy tail." Pull the twists apart slightly to give hair more volume. Next, take the section of hair directly under it on the crown of your head and repeat the steps above to create a second layer of twists.

WRAP HAIR TO CREATE LOOSE BUNS: Next, divide the section of hair hanging in the elastic band in two. Wrap the first section around to create a loose bun and use bobby pins to secure the hair at the base of the elastic band. Repeat for the second section.
