From Tess Casey…The bride grew up going to Sea Island, so the natural place to have her wedding was on the beautiful Georgia Island. Wednesday night was an intimate family celebration held on the black banks terrace of the cloister. All the guests wore white and the bride wore blue. The flowers were garden snapdragons, pale blue hydrangea, coral peonies and olive branches in natural wooden boxes. The guests dined on the dock on farm tables with cream linen napkins tied with twine in the fisherman’s love Knot. Hanging custom nautical lanterns lit the dock as the sun went down. Thursday’s rehearsal dinner was held at the villa and had a european flair. All flowers were from a local farm market with bunches of hand tied herbs and copper lanterns all down long tables with white linen.
Friday night was a big southern party on rainbow island with huge baskets of peaches and wildflowers in spice cans on the picnic tables hanging overhead market lights and the open fire pit set the tone for the Southern bash. The love sign leaning against a huge tree at the end of the dock walk was a brilliant photo op for all. This Saturday celebration was held in tents on the beach and the ceremony was held on the beautiful old sail tent. A walkway was constructed on the beach in beige carpet with the hedges of babies breath and hanging green amaranthus.
Inside the tent a massive custom Chuppah was made from birch branches encased in lucite with hanging wisteria and orchids. It was a nod to the Southern Spanish moss hanging from the trees in the area. The bridal party carried flowers of garden roses, dusty miller, grape hyacinth, succulents, olive twigs and eucalyptus while the bride carried white peonies, garden roses and smilax. The reception was held in the custom built one-of-a-kind tent set overlooking the beach. The mixture of different styles and sizes from farm tables to beautiful oval and square tables, mini sofas, beautiful chairs, custom linens lend the night to grand southern estate affair. Hanging over every table suspended from the ceiling were phalaenopsis orchids and branches and over the huge dance floor were a collection of crystal chandeliers. All around the tent were huge trophy vases of blue and white hydrangea and massive urns of white peonies.
The dessert area which was a big reveal was inspired by Sophie Coppola’s movie Marie Antoinette. Here the desserts and cakes were displayed in crystal tables with hanging chandeliers. There were also wall mirrors and peacocks with six-foot tails and gilded birdcages tapered candles in crystal candelabra surrounded the 7 foot wedding cake.
