Chateau Wedding in Brittany, France

A chateau wedding in the gorgeous french countryside reads like a complete fairytale to me. I'm pretty sure I've been to this very wedding in my day dreams, and it's such a treat to see just such a day come to life via the talented lens of Sophie Delaveau. It was a day filled with personality and love, and there is so much more pretty waiting for you in the VAULT.

From The Bride...After being together for 20 years, we had planned our wedding in the west coast of France, in Brittany (Bretagne), to celebrate our love and family, and the 10 years of our son Alexandre who was our adorable ring bearer.

Our marriage gave us the opportunity to celebrate our anniversary of 20 years of love. We wanted to show that, even if life is sometimes difficult, we want to continue to strongly grow old together. We wanted this wedding to be intimate with few people, surrounded by our family and people dear to our heart. We imagined our wedding to be romantic, chic, with beautiful flowers. We love flowers, plants, and gardening. We dreamed about a place with character, old stones and woodwork, a quiet place that can suit both grown-ups and little ones, a venue that could seduce everyone. Brittany is full of beautiful castles and manors, and Manoir du Stang, in La Forêt Fouesnant, was our choice for the reception venue.

We organized everything on our own and we did it as we wanted to do it. Maybe not in a traditional way. For example, Christophe was by my side to help me to choose my wedding dress. He always knows what suits me or not. Even if he already saw me with my wedding dress before, he was so moved when he saw me the first time on our wedding day.

We also had quality vendors who gave us advice and helped us live a unique experience and to have a beautiful wedding day. Mademoiselle Anaïs, our floral designer, immediately seized all our desires, including my obsessive desire for symmetry (my two bridesmaids had the same dress in the same green water color and the same crown of flowers).

From our last vacation spent in the south of France, we found love with Mediterranean plants. We wanted to include these warm southern colors through our wedding day. With Melle Anaïs, we opted for tones of orange, coral, pink and green water. For flowers vases, we chose old gold containers. And we chose the theme of Succulent as thread of our design. This lovely succulent plant was everywhere: in our stationery, in the bridal bouquet, in boutonnieres, in bouquets centers tables, decorating the fireplace in the reception room, etc. For the bridal bouquet, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted. I wanted the bouquet to sublimate my dress, like a jewel, it would be adorned with beautiful colors and beautiful satin ribbons. It also had to be made of flowers evoking vivid memories or closed people, such as peony, my mom's favorite flower.

Our photographer, Sophie, was so considerate towards us throughout the day, we sometimes felt she was part of our family. Like a real little guardian angel, she was ready to deal with everything and took care we didn't lack anything (example: tissues, bottle of water, small energizing snack for the bride who began to fail). We choose her because we love her work. Her images are divine, so bright, full of sweetness and tenderness. We are still so happy to have wonderful photos of our wedding day.

It took us a year to organize our wedding according to our desire. We loved this whole period of preparations where we were in contact with professionals from very different worlds. All of our guests loved our wedding day and said it was so US. They were particularly impressed by the venue, by the small details of decoration and especially by flowers. For us, it was really a beautiful and unique adventure made of meetings, discussions and reflections which we had to continually be proactive, patience and above all...LOVE of course!
