From Sposto Photography... When the Ebell reached out to us to photograph an editorial in their newly redesigned space, we all knew this shoot was an opportunity to feature elements that fit into the cooler months of the year. We see a lot of gold and blush at weddings and the team and I felt that it was time to feature silvers and cooler tones to bring out the elegance of metalics. Featuring tarnished silver elements, the warmth of the fruits, nuts, and florals, balanced the color pallet beautifully. The Maggie Sottero gown that was photographed featured a bolero type shoulder detail that echoed the timeless elegance of the classic Ebell club of Long Beach. Luminous lines created a linen invitation suite that was craftily styled with hand dyed silk ribbon from Tono & Co. The table scape featured whimsical calligraphy upon silver goblets used as name cards while scrolled menus sat at each place setting. Brent and Julia, a real long beach couple, fell in love all over again imagining that their wedding could be just like this. Their effortless love allowed us to really see how this space could be used.

From Green Apple Event Co.... The Ebell Club is historic to the city of Long Beach and was built in the 1920’s. The original architecture was reimagined early this year by Alan Dunn. The new space is now highlighted by; patterned tiles, glamorous chandeliers, and a cozy library. The main ballroom is sun drenched with natural light, making it every photographers dream.
Our inspiration for this editorial shoot was to compliment the bright space with a romantic, rich and timeless pallet with accents of dark berries and antique silvers. The “Gothic Garden” back drop by Drop it Modern was the perfect compliment to the bright florals by Lavender’s Flowers and moody table scape designed by Green Apple Event Company.

From Lavenders Flowers... This editorial shoot was a special coming together of some exceptionally likeminded talents. Meghan of Greenapple Events asked me to join the team for floral and design. After she told me Shauntelle of Sposto Photography was shooting, I was all in. For the table top, Meghan did a great job picking moody neutral colors and antique silver to accent a dark wooden table. It was at this point that I knew I needed to bring on the color.

The first step in my creative process is to get to know the environment I'll be designing in. I knew there would be lots of natural light at the Ebell and that Shauntelle shoots in film so I was not shy in using bold and deep color tones. Film has a way of representing color perfectly.

My second step in my creative process is to visit the flower market. I work with seasonal blooms and buy from local growers when available. Since it was mid fall, the floral available was the most gorgeous warm tones of red, orange, & peach. Ponies decided to make an appearance at the market, I was so excited to use them. I found an amazing bunch of viburnum leaves transitioning from golden yellow to burnt orange. Lots of branching berries available, and pretty evergreen foliage. Just like that, my palette was picked for me. I added a few peachy garden roses from my garden and that was it!
