From Inkspot Crow Films…Emily & Ed’s backyard wedding in rural North Carolina was truly spectacular. A perfect mix of familial comfort and Southern elegance. The setting was perfect- outside ceremony, al-fresco cocktails and dinner/dancing under a sailcloth tent. We incorporated the couples’ vows in their highlight film- because it truly paints a picture of their relationship and love for one another.
From Gather Together Events… Emily & Ed fell in love in New York City and call Detroit home, but, their wedding was all things southern. Hosted on the bride’s mother’s property in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina, their special day was unique to this couple in every way possible.
Emily & Ed’s ceremony took place in backyard, surrounded by the home’s blooming garden. Combining several religious and cultural sentiments, the bride and groom exchanged vows during a carefully crafted ceremony. Friends of the couple read the Jewish seven blessings; Ed broke the glass and their sweet pup, Sasha, even made an appearance down the aisle! Emily & Ed’s ceremony was customized to be a meaningful reflection of them as a couple and the life they were beginning together.
Guests were treated with traditional southern hospitality from start to finish! Upon arrival, lemonade and acoustic bluegrass set the tone at the pre-ceremony social. Cocktail hour after the ceremony included passed sparkling wine and a signature cocktail: the “Ginger Boulevard,” made with bourbon, Grand Marnier and ginger liqueur. Cheese grit cakes with wild mushrooms and pork sliders with green tomato butter were passed among lounge seating perfect for a chat for new family & friends. It was one of those sunny, spring days in North Carolina that you want to last forever!
After cocktail hour, the guests gathered under a gigantic sailcloth tent strung with market lights for dinner and dancing! The couple wanted a family-style supper to create a sense of community among guests. It included coriander-crusted rack of lamb and Southern tomato-cheddar pies. Similar to the menu, the design was a perfect balance of southern comfort and elegance. Farm tables were adorned with lush floral and greenery. Crepe myrtles towered over the guests and caught glimpses of light from the sparkling iron chandeliers. After heart-felt toasts from family, the bride, groom and their guests feasted on cake and danced the night away under a starry, spring North Carolina evening. A beautiful spring day, glowing, elegant, welcoming décor, and the happiness of family and friends all around; Emily & Ed’s day was a dream!
