Glamorous + Classic Vineyard Wedding
You know we love a good DIY and this time around it's Marta and Giovanni turn to show us what they've got. From collecting vintage vases for florals to everything in between, this pair literally did it all and it's nothing short of inspiring. Laura Rowe Photography captured it all as we witness their boho chic vision come to life and you can see the results first hand in THE VAULT!
From Laura Rowe Photography... From the moment I met Marta and Giovanni, I was determined to not simply photograph them, but to authentically tell their story. Two ordinary people with an extraordinary love. Their chemistry is addicting, and passion undeniable. They simply get lost in on another and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. Their wedding day reflected their romantic, earthy and organic demeanors, with every element carefully thought out and designed by the bride herself. This was by far one of my most cherished weddings from the season, and I’m grateful to have been invited into their lives to help celebrate their love.
From the Bride... Since weddings are so costly, I was determined to complete and design everything (or as much as I could) myself. From designing and creating our wedding invitation, to picking out fabric and designing each of my bridesmaids dresses, to collecting 200+ vintage vases for my flowers, to designing favor labels and tying each mini jar with beautiful classic grey fabric, to designing and creating the menu cards and table numbers, to hunting down a beautiful large antique frame for seating arrangements – I did it all – and of course I couldn’t do it without the help of my mom and beautiful bridesmaids. This was by far, the largest project/event I’d ever had to coordinate and I was determined to make every detail perfect and in sync with my natural, organic-boho vision.
I was eager to stray far away from the ordinary! Not that ordinary isn’t beautiful – but bridal just wasn’t me ! I was eager to be unique. I pictured a simplistic natural wood barn, loose, fresh-from-the-garden romantic flower arrangements, our closest family and friends, and a whole lot of dancing. And though I never managed to gain my dream barn wedding due to some unexpected issues with my venue, I couldn’t have asked for a better and more perfect day.
I opted for a very soft, natural and simplistic colour palate – white, linen grey, dusty rose, & soft champagne. My style vision was combination of feminine, delicate & natural boho-chic. Every detail was a DIY project to be honest. I spent countless hours organizing, collecting, designing, and crafting.
I was dreaming in wild flowers, and a Fine Medley did an amazing job at making my vision and style come to life in my bouquet and flower crown. (I’d wear a flower crown every day, all day if I could!) I’ve dried both my crown and bouquet as a keepsake and both pieces still look beautiful. When choosing by gown, I had a tough time finding something unique, that wasn’t too ‘bridal’. My maid of honor came to countless dress appointments, until I finally stumbled upon this Tarik Ediz gown. With only few minor tweaks – it was right up my alley!
When it came to selecting favors, we wanted to give our guests something they could put to use – and so we opted for organic maple syrup from Quebec, Ontario! Because let’s get serious – who doesn’t love a good dose of yummy maple syrup? I found small little jars, which we then draped in soft linen grey fabric. We added lavender greens for a natural accent.
My favorite moment was honoring and dancing with my grandmother, who in her late age endured traveling from Poland to spend this special day with me. My favorite childhood memories come from spending summers in Poland with my grandparents. I wanted to express how thankful I was to my grandparents for their love, support and kindness. It’s the one dance I will never forget.
If I could lend other brides some advice while planning, it would be to follow through on your vision despite how challenging it can be. If you’re determined to put a personal twist on each detail – do it. But in the end, remember to be mindful about what the day is really all about.
