This gorgeous pre-wedding photo shoot could not have came across my desk at a more serendipitous time. At a time where I’m too cowardly to leave my cozy apartment in Jonas’ snowy aftermath, Cynthia Chung Weddings‘ photos are transporting me to the sunny cobblestone streets of the West Village and onto the scenic High Line, and reminding me why I love this city. Fall in love for yourself in THE VAULT!
From Cynthia Chung Weddings…It was a pleasure photographing Karen and John around in such an awesome area of NYC in their wedding outfits. In Asia, doing “pre-wedding” photo sessions are very common. It’s when the bride and groom wear their wedding attire to do amazing portraits before the wedding day so they could showcase the photos at the wedding! Karen’s dress was amazing and having their classic and elegant black tie look amidst such an industrial and raw part of New York City was really unique and made for some amazing photographs. It also helped that we peaked in the High Line and some parts of the West Village.
From The Bride…New York was an obvious choice for us to take pre-wedding photos – Jon is a native New Yorker and I really enjoyed visiting Jon there from Hong Kong during our two year long distance relationship (thankfully we are together in one place now). The challenging part for us was where exactly in NYC to do the shoot. Jon and I have pretty similar taste – when we thought about what we like, cobble stone streets, brown stone townhouses and tree lined streets came to mind. One of our favorite neighborhoods in the city is the West Village and the High Line also has meaning for us since it’s one of the first places we visited together in Manhattan.
The pre-wedding photo shoot couldn’t have gone any better. It was very natural for us to work with Cynthia; her laid back style, knack for finding unique locations / angles to snap our pictures and positive attitude made the session really fun for us. We are extremely happy with the results and have been actively sharing her photos with our family and friends (with lots of compliments!).
For all of you out there contemplating whether to do your shoot in NYC, we would highly recommend it because believe it or not New Yorkers are very friendly – we received so many congratulations and compliments (probably because I was wearing a full on wedding gown which apparently is more of a Hong Kong thing than something common for the U.S.).
All-in-all NYC was an easy choice for us and we were extremely happy with the West Village / High Line and how our photos came out!
