Elegant Midcentury-Inspired Beach Elopement

Taking a cue from the iconic style of the 1960s, this German couple said "I Do" in a chic midcentury mod-inspired beach elopement. With the famous Hotel Neptun hosting the reception, the Bride's YSL little white dress, a beautiful cake from Dilekerei and flowers in Pantone's 2016 colors of the year, everything about this day is gorgeous. From Katja Scherle Festtagsfotografien....Dear SMPers, I know you're always looking for something different and I think this may be one of those weddings. This big city couple wanted to elope and get married at the Baltic Sea where they met and fell in love during law school. But they didn't want the typical beach wedding, they were looking for something modern, fun, yet elegant. As a venue they chose the famous Hotel Neptun, a 1960s midcentury building that has beautiful architectural features - like the appearance of a sail boat when you look at it from a certain angle. And from that modern midcentury vibe their whole wedding style developed: they opted for modern geometric stationery, designed by Jungrad Design. The bride chose an elegant and fun YSL 1960s style wedding dress and went for a more dramatic 1960s style make up done by Lena Schleweis. When they exited the local city hall they were even greeted with geometric hexagon shaped golden confetti!

Those confetti also found their way onto their beautifully styled tables in a Hotel Neptun private room - where they enjoyed a delicious five course lunch with twelve of their closest family members and friends. Up on the 12th floor with a beautiful view - of course the bride thought of cute little telescopes for their guests.

Regarding their wedding colors they were ahead of time: In tune with Pantone's new colors for 2016 their beautiful lush florals (by Botanic Art) were designed in soft pink and blue hues - just as their wedding cake: Its stunning lace pattern was hand painted by cake designer Dilekerei, matching the lace pattern on the bride's dress and the flowers in her bouquet.

In the end all the colors perfectly matched the colours of the ocean on that sunny day. The sea and the beach played a big role on their day - in a maritime elopement done in a whole new way.
