Elegant Villa Del Lago Fall Wedding
Let me be clear as I imagine there might be some confusion: this elegant affair took place in TEXAS! Overflowing with European beauty, bright blooms by Without Wax Katy and linens by La Tavola, it's easy to think you've been transported to Spain. From the Bride... Coming from traditional Spanish roots, both Miguel and I had envisioned a Spain-inspired Catholic wedding. We chose the beautiful hill country of Austin, TX for our reception because it seemed just about the closest we could find (in the US) to the countryside of Spain… plus Austin is just a blast! We felt like Spanish royalty celebrating under the pavilion of Villa Del Lago, outlooking the vast expanse of rolling hills and Lake Travis. The best moment was when Miguel and I looked out over the balcony, my veil gracefully flowing in the wind - we felt like King and Queen of the Hill Country Kingdom! Hah!
From a design perspective, deep autumnal tones brought in a warmth that we were looking for. Wherever possible, traditional laces were used to bring in a textural softness. Miguel's last name,'Chavez', means "keys" in Spanish, so, being the graphic designer I am, created a custom 'key' monogram for the event. This motif was present on so many elements - napkins, favors, menus, etc. The entire cocktail and dinner menu was a collaboration of autumnal flavors and traditional Spanish dishes.
Miguel could not stop smiling the ENTIRE ceremony and evening. I knew that he finally understood all of the work and stress that went into planning and that my design team and I had hit the nail on the head. Just seeing his big smile made my night. At one point in the evening I sat down quietly in the corner and just watched him from afar - he is so handsome!
