From the Bride… As many other young girls in the world, I had always dreamed of what my wedding day would be like. It was truly a blessing when Mickey entered my life and allowed for my dream of true love to come true. I had always imagined to share this special day with my closest family and friends but most importantly with my best friend, my soon to be husband. I remember the day Mickey proposed to me as if it was yesterday. Our love story began as I had volunteered to work as an intern at a small private school that I attended as a child. Mickey had just started working at the school as a new teacher and to my surprise that is where our love story began. I remember the first day we saw each other, we both described it as a true blessing of attraction and deep interest within the heart. God is and has always been the foundation within our meeting and it truly was a blessing that we were both placed in a little school that would bring us more than just a career or college credits, but the gift of a soul mate.

As the weeks went by from our first meeting, to our first date, to the moment we both knew this was meant to be forever, it truly was a fairytale. We were each other’s first true love and we knew that our time together was a gift from God. The day that Mickey got down on one knee in the Library, where he first asked me on a date, with the candles in the bookshelves and our pictures surrounding everywhere within the books was the day my life changed forever. It was the most intimate, special time of my life as just he and I danced to “Tale As Old As Time” from Beauty and the Beast and I cried as he put my beautiful engagement ring on my finger. I exclaimed “Yes!” that I “accepted with all my heart.” As a little girl I always loved the classic fairytale stories and as we danced in the library to the tune of one of my favorite songs, I truly understood that I was going to spend the rest of my life with an incredible man.

As soon as the engagement began the wedding planning commenced. My parents were incredible and my dad had hired a phenomenal wedding planner as every detail of our soon to be magical day was discussed and planned. The overall inspiration for our wedding was based upon sophisticated classic elements and whimsical romantic touches. I wanted the day to feel soft with nostalgic flair. Our wedding was in June, as any classic bride dreams of being a ‘June Bride’ and with much planning and preparation we decided upon a classic Country Club wedding. The colors I chose were all in the ranges of different shades of blush, whites, creams, and accents of gold with rustic wood touches. I wanted a Grace Kelly meets Audrey Hepburn atmosphere that also merged whimsical elements of nature within the floral décor and centerpieces. There were many traditional elements that were maintained within my classic theme, however we also added fun touches such as a photo booth, lemonade bar, cookie stand and lounge area that guests very much enjoyed. Truly my wedding day was an absolute dream, from the grand water fountain with dripping petals to the great ballroom with large windows that showcased the city lights from on top of the hills.

From getting ready with my beautiful bridesmaids in the morning to sharing special moments with my mother putting on jewelry, I started my day as a single young lady and ended my day with a new last name as a married woman. The entire day went by so quickly but one of the most memorable moments within the day was when my husband and I took communion alongside our parents. It was the realization that even within the grandeur of the day the love that we shared with one another was the only thing that mattered most within that single moment.

Our advice for future brides and grooms would be to cherish every moment within the journey, to not allow the little things to get in the way of happiness, to be flexible as schedules and times change, and to most importantly enjoy every second of the wedding day as it goes by so quickly.
