From The Bride…We chose traditional/classic elegance with modern inspiration. Our primary goal was to make our guests feel like they were at a “ball”, which is why we chose a twelve piece big band for the formal reception. My family is Polish and we had several guests visiting from there, so we incorporated some Polish themes such as the bread and salt presentation, the vodka shots and the Polish wedding soup. We also wanted to highlight the talents of the Joule’s phenomenal kitchen and service staff so we really enjoyed their white glove service during dinner while our band played jazz, classical and big band music.

We kept our theme and colors clean and neutral. We piggy-backed off of the gold and the colors of our church and chose gold, lots of mirrors, and white flowers with natural greenery. We opted for an informal “tunnel” sendoff to our late night DJ party. We wanted everything to be fluid without feeling planned or on-the-clock. For us, the best way to do this was to keep it simple.

The DJ “late night” party was our favorite part. We wanted everyone to feel like they were at a dance club with their 300 best friends :) We had a lot of fun with this – we served mini junk food and Polish cabbage rolls. We had a barista station that brewed made-to-order coffees. For the decor we incorporated all gold everything including a mirror dance floor and disco balls. We used light to reflect our names off of the building behind us, which you could see through the windows behind our DJ. It was an awesome downtown/urban vibe. We had an engineer coordinating a lights show to correspond with the DJ’s song choices. If anyone needed a break, they could relax in the lounge areas we set up surrounding the dance floor.

Looking back, the MUSIC was the most important component of our wedding. We spent the most time coordinating with our church choir, the twelve piece band, and our DJ. We wanted to make sure that everyone was dancing all night, and for us it was a great success!
