Classic Summer Waterfront Wedding

When you live in the Northeast you know that any outdoor celebration comes with a risk. You see, we don’t exactly have California-type weather around these parts, but I must say, when it’s good, it’s really good. And these two lucked out for their summer wedding, with the sun shining and big smiles all over. Ryon:Lockhart Photography captured every bit – see all the bright beauty in our VAULT right this way!

From the Bride… Brian and I met as lifeguards – the best summer job ever – especially when you meet the man you are going to marry 10 years later! I knew there was something special about him right away and after a few sunburns and some games of “all fishies under” we hit it off.

Brian proposed at one of our favorite spots – the docks where we’d had many ice cream dates, long chats and even shared our first kiss. We celebrated that night with both of our families and some champagne (a bottle that Brian’s dad had sitting in his fridge for… awhile), and then the wedding planning began! Since we are both teachers, we knew right away that we wanted a July wedding. We looked at tons of wedding venues, but we fell in love with Seawanhaka Corrinthian Yacht Club with its beautiful water views, great lawn and simple charm! After lots of deliberation about having an outdoor wedding, and lots of prayers for sunshine, we could not be happier that we took that leap of faith! We looked at plenty of bands, photographers, florists … and the dress – I probably tried on 75 before choosing the one! Needless to say, I am not a quick decision maker – but when it came to marrying Brian the decision was easy! Being engaged was such an exciting time, there was so much celebrating, planning, and looking forward to the big day and the future together. It was easy to get wrapped up in all the details of the day, but we were a constant reminder to each other that the wedding is one day, the marriage is a lifetime.

And that one day happened to be an amazing one! We said our vows in the same church where both of our parents were married and at the party we danced the night away! We had a wonderful wedding day and night and we are forever grateful to all of the people who made the day possible! We are so thankful to our families, friends and especially our parents, for their touching kindness, support and love. It is a beautiful thing to marry the love of your life surrounded by all that love! Our wedding day was an amazing start to our lifelong journey as husband and wife :)
