As a proud card carrying member of the foodie club, I can fully appreciate this couple’s goal for fab food at their wedding and I’d say they succeeded – guacamole and fish tacos? Heck yes! A menu that amazing makes for happy guests and Alyssa Maloof captured all that joy and more at this modern mixture of urban-meets-rustic – see it all in our VAULT right this way!
From the Bride… After nine years of dating, our families could not wait for this wedding. We knew we wanted our wedding to be simple, have really great food, and for everyone to dance the night away. Our venue was not only the perfect mix of urban modern and rustic I was looking for, but it also had a guacamole bar, which played a bigger part in my decision that I’d like to admit. I mean, guacamole and fish tacos at a wedding? Sold!
The week of the wedding we received news of a hurricane almost as bad as Sandy could be hitting the area. I was so worried my out-of-town guests flying in (and two out of six girls in my bridal party!) wouldn’t make it. Also my dreams of having lush outdoor photos were dashed. I emailed my photographer a couple dozen times asking for all of the “indoor” places we could take pictures if the weather ended up not holding up. There was no hurricane here, but definitely not beautiful weather. The best part is that not only did my bridal party make it, our pictures were beyond gorgeous and I’m so happy we didn’t get to take the photos outside. The architecture of the train station and platform are some of my favorites!
Our wedding ceremony was officiated by our sister-in-law, and her son was the ring bearer. It was really important to us to have someone we know and love guide us through such a significant step in our lives. It was also important to us to honor both families traditions, our ceremony was beautiful and extremely personal.
Thanks to our awesome DJ, we had the most amazing dance party. All of our friends and family had such a great time. I don’t think my husband and I left the dance floor all night. It was even better than I could have imagined!
