Romantic Art Deco Wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

A vintage-inspired love fest awash in beautiful jewel tones is sort of my happy place.  Especially when that aforementioned love fest is sprinkled with DIY craftiness and some of the most beautiful details you will ever lay your eyes upon.  Think lush + romantic florals from Denise Fasanello, a stunning Reem Acra gown and an entire world of breathtaking images from Brian Dorsey Studios.  Head to THE VAULT for every moment, then press play on the film from Lux Photos below for even more pretty.

From Brian Dorsey Studios… Scott proposed to Marianna on their couch, after some take-out Chinese food, while watching Mrs. Doubtfire on December 21st, 2012. Sounds like a pretty ordinary evening, but our groom set the tone of creativity for this entire wedding by popping the question on the night of the (predicted) Mayan Apocalypse. “Til the end of time,” right?

We absolutely loved this couple and their wedding which was largely DIY thanks to Marianna’s Interior Design degree. The luxe, Art Deco vibe of the day was inspired largely by our bride’s 1920’s Estate ring that came from a Vintage Boutique in Cape May, NJ. The bride herself did the graphic design of most of her stationery to match that vintage theme, with help from Elle New York.

Born in Brooklyn (but a Jersey Girl thereafter), Marianna wanted to center her whole wedding around her roots, so she hired the brilliant and Brooklyn-Based Denise Fasanello to add bold, jewel-toned hues of floral throughout her entire event – which was held at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a venue we love shooting at – and a venue her guests described as “magical.” (We’d have to agree.)

There’s something so decisive about this bride’s personality – she just knows what she wants, and from there the wedding was seamlessly executed. After meeting the team at Brian Dorsey Studios, she cancelled all of her other appointments and booked us on the spot… Same goes for her Reem Acra gown, which was the first dress she tried on – and her venue, the only one she even viewed in person. It’s hard to believe a wedding so stylized was done in such an easy, fun, and lighthearted way! And that’s why we at BDS feel Marianna’s wedding deserves some kudos.

Our feature bride’s favorite moment was her “First Look ” with Scott, which she had been anticipating the whole day up until she finally was able to see him in person. “If I could tell future brides/couples one thing… it would be that when you know you’re marrying ‘The One’ – nothing else – no small hiccup can possibly ruin that day, so do your best to be stress free. Get excited. Enjoy it. It goes by so fast.”

… And it did, but not without a ton of laughter and some awesome photos to show for it!
