From the Bride... After exploring different types of venues all over Northern California, Albert and I agreed that we wanted to pick one with a relaxed, rustic feel that hosted a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The Forest House Lodge was recommended to us by family friends who had previously been to weddings there and raved about how much fun they had. Immediately, Albert and I were welcomed by tenured coordinators who understood our needs and got us excited about our future wedding plans. We were completely sold after seeing the unbelievable ceremony site surrounded by decades-old trees that overlooked the Tahoe National Forest. Booking the Forest House Lodge for our big day was clearly a no-brainer.

Our idea of the perfect wedding day was anything but traditional. Instead of a white diamond engagement ring, I picked a yellow one. And instead of wearing white on my wedding day, I chose blush. It only made sense to pick a color pallet of bridesmaid dresses in all different styles to accommodate my bridesmaid’s personal tastes. In addition, Albert was sold on his bridal party wearing slate-blue suits with neutral-colored ties instead of the traditional black tux.

When planning our floral, I knew I wanted to incorporate ivory, blush and peach tones, sparkly gold ribbon, lots of texture and A TON of greenery that would blend well with the venue’s gorgeous scenery. Our florist Kristi, from The Posh Posey, was absolutely incredible to work with! She took all of our somewhat sporadic ideas and ran with them.

My favorite part of the ceremony décor was the set of open French doors that were featured at the beginning of the aisle. The doors, along with several different aspects of the wedding, were rented from Simple Country Weddings. Our florist also added a floral arrangement on top and greenery along the back row of chairs that framed the ceremony beautifully and made for the most romantic photos.

Our reception was simply a dream. Romantic floral elements, textured table clothes, mercury glass, and a variety of sparkly components took over the entire venue. Our Pinterest-inspired seating chart was displayed on another set of French doors. My favorite parts of the reception were our personal touches. We had thank you cards made for each table setting that featured caricatures of our bridal party on the back. We also had gold laser-cut signs made of our nicknames hanging from our chairs at the head table. Last, but certainly not least, my dad surprised the two of us with personal labels on all of the featured wine. The white wine had a picture of our four-legged Australian Shepherd puppy, Chloe, and the red wine had a picture of me when I played the Queen of Hearts in the 4th grade.

And to close the evening out, Albert’s bridal party surprised me with a funny dance featuring my groom actually doing the worm (which I had no idea he was capable of). Little did they know, my dad and I had a treat planned of our own. After a minute and a half of a slow song, we broke out into some serious Beyoncé and Lil Wayne moves. It was the perfect ending to an unreal day. Overall, it was truly a dream come true and we are so happy we have the photographs from Lyndsay Undseth Photography to remember each of those memories forever.
