Modern + Geometric Sonoma Winery Wedding
With an art director Groom and a beautiful Sonoma Valley winery setting, it's no surprise this day is so pretty. From the hexagon monogram (designed by the Groom!) and playful piñatas to the message-in-a-bottle guest book, it's the perfect modern wedding. And with vendors like Milou + Olin, Bella Bridal, La Tavola Linen, Bright Party Rentals and that gorgeous Hayley Paige, it was this couple's dream day. See it all in THE VAULT!
From Kaella of Madix & Co...Tori and Sean wanted an intimate, simple yet elegant wedding set in Wine Country, where they often enjoy taking day trips to break from their busy schedules among the peace and serenity of the rolling hills. Originally from the East Coast, they have lived in San Francisco for several years and wanted to share one of their favorite places with family and friends. The key words that described their wedding vision were rustic, minimal and elegant. We toured many venues across the Sonoma and Napa valleys, and ultimately they selected Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma. It was the perfect fit, not only due to its beauty, but the privacy and peacefulness of the wedding location, which set the stage for the intimate gathering they desired.
One of the unique and fun aspects in designing this wedding was how involved Sean was in the design. As an Art Director, he has a clear aesthetic, which includes appreciation of modern and minimal design. This inspired some of the more industrial components, as well as clean lines through geometric shapes and white décor pieces. The two share a love of succulents and wanted a subdued color palette, so we took our cue from the soft shades found among succulents (noted as their favorite over flowers): green, grey, pale blue and muted purple.
So many elements were customized and personal. Sean designed their hexagon monogram. The hexagon became a central shape among the décor, from the escort cards to the trays that decorated the Guest Book station. In the last weeks, Tori saw a blog post I shared about using piñata’s at weddings and just had to have one. I could not have been more excited! We installed a trio of hexagon and diamond shaped piñatas to the large Oak Tree that lead to their dance floor. After the first dance, the wedding party kicked off the party hitting the piñata until it spilled goodies for their guests - certainly a big hit among the crowd (pun intended).
I sourced a vintage riddler rack for the escort card display. Sean and Tori loved it so much, they decided to buy it. The rack now has a permanent place in their home. Another personal element was the wedding favors. Tori and Sean often use Govino glasses when they go wine tasting and on picnics for their durability. We had Govino glasses personalized with their wedding monogram. Not one remained at the end of the night!
