Chic Coastal Same-Sex Wedding in Southern California

There are a million (make that trillion) things we love about Megan and Kelsey’s coastal wedding, but number one our list? The fact that these two met in kindergarten (I mean, how adorbs is that?!) and the love that radiates between them is practically palpable, as evident through the lens of heidi-o-photo. It’s the type of day that truly defines romance, and we’ve got it all in THE VAULT!

From heidi-o-photoKelsey & Megan are the absolute sweetest couple. They’ve grown up together, attending the same schools as kids. In college they began dating and have moved out to San Diego, from the MidWest, to start their marriage together. They wanted a beachy coastal wedding for all their out-of-town guests and chose the Pacific Coast Grill, a restaurant on the beach in Cardiff, California. Their dresses were perfect for their casual beachy wedding, and the soft flowers matched well.

From The Bride….We wanted a beach wedding because we both love the ocean! This was a great venue where you could have both indoor and outdoor feels. The environment of it was perfect for what we were looking for for our wedding. Megan’s brother was the officiant, which was really special since we are so close to him. We included all of our siblings in the bridal party.

We met in 1995 when we were in Kindergarten at St. Vincent de Paul in our hometown, Omaha, NE. It is difficult for us to recall memories together at this young age; however, we have home videos that are proof we were great friends! It was in Mrs. John’s homeroom class in 6th grade that we officially became best friends. We would walk home together from school and play until dark. Living just a few blocks from each other, we were able to hang out often! We quickly became part of each other’s families. Little did we or they know at the time, that one day we would become family!

Ten years ago today, on the night of August 8, 2005, we shared a moment while exchanging our deepest secrets. From that point forward our connection, compassion, and love was so strong we could not be broken. Even when we were miles apart, in high school and in college we aspired each other’s input, affection, and love through our nightly routine chats on the phone. Once we graduated college, we both moved to Tucson and were finally able to be together again. Soon after we moved to San Diego, where we have never felt happier and excited that our adventures are able to continue forever.

We took a trip to Lake Tahoe for Valentines day. Megan had the whole engagement planned while Kelsey had no idea what Megan coordinated. We stayed in an adorable, cozy, and outdoorsy cottage which included a great view of the Lake Tahoe. The morning of Valentine’s Day Megan had the candles and fire set and we relaxed while watching the sunrise over the mountains and lake. We then exchanged gifts. Kelsey gave Megan a gift of professional photography to get couples photos done. Megan gave Kelsey the engagement. She wrote the book of our love story by summarizing each year we have dated into each chapter. While reading it Kelsey and Megan both cried. At the end there was a hole in the book which held the engagement rings. Kelsey was overjoyed and of course said YES!, After breakfast we continued to have the best day ever by going hiking and drinking margaritas on the lake. It truly was an unbelievable moment and weekend that will be forever cherished.
