There’s just something about Brooklyn that feels so effortlessly cool, so it came as no surprise that this native New Yorker (who happens to be on team SMP!) chose it as the location for her autumn wedding. They chose September 11th and in the bride words, “I decided we should celebrate our love with the support of our friends and family in a step toward honoring the gift of life and reclaiming that date.” It’s a beautiful sentiment with a beautiful wedding to match, and you can see more from Emma McDonald Weddings in THE VAULT.

From the Bride, Lucy… Since Shaun and I were friends before we started dating, we wanted our wedding to be very relaxed, and a ton of fun! As Brooklyn residents, we chose to get married in Williamsburg at an old-school Italian venue with stunning views. Our anniversary happened to fall on September 11th, and as a Native New Yorker I decided we should celebrate our love with the support of our friends and family in a step toward honoring the gift of life and reclaiming that date.
With Shaun from England and Scotland, he opted for a kilt of his family’s tartan in a nod to his heritage. I surprised him with “The Final Countdown” (an inside joke) on bagpipes and he nearly lost it before I walked down the aisle! With the flowers and decor, I wanted to set a “wonderland” whimsical feel against the glamorous backdrop of the skyline to merge our two styles and backgrounds. The night was so magical and we could not have asked for a more beautiful evening.
