From The Bride…Jordan and I previously met through mutual friends during a coincidental meetup in Las Vegas. He was celebrating a friend’s twenty-first birthday and I was there with my girls celebrating our singlehood. Although we consider that night the first time we met, we didn’t technically “meet” until we were matched together on the ever popular dating app, Tinder. Jordan’s profile was literally my first “swipe right” and subsequently my last. The night we had our first date, the chemistry was immediate. I was instantly drawn to Jordan’s outgoing personality, humor, and full of life attitude. He was the perfect balance to my somewhat shy personality. Within days, we knew that our search for finding the right companion was over. I spent years searching for Jordan and was finally at peace knowing that all my tears and heartbreak led me to something great. In our first few months of dating, we met each other’s parents, moved into our first home together, and became the parents to our adorable French Bulldog, Lilly. Jordan proposed on May 5, 2014 on the beach in Del Mar, CA with rose petals spelling out our names in the sand, friends secretly videotaping the event, and with a gorgeous diamond ring he picked out with his brother. I was so unaware of the momentous occasion that was about to occur, I actually said out loud to Jordan that the rose petals in the sand must have been from someone else’s proposal earlier that morning. Little did I know that they were actually for me!

After our engagement, we immediately knew we wanted a summer wedding. A large portion of Jordan’s friends are professional athletes, so we needed to accommodate the players in the off-season and a June wedding fit the bill perfectly. Without question we knew that we wanted to get married in San Diego because it was where Jordan grew up and where I went to college. The incredible city of San Diego is home to so many great memories for the both of us and what better place to get married than at the country club where Jordan spent many outings playing golf with his best friends.

I lost my breath when I had my first visit at the venue. The gorgeous outdoor tent with its romantic white drapes and the sparkling chandeliers, lush grass, and cozy Spanish architecture was exactly what we wanted for our special day and it played beautifully off our color palate of blushes, creams, and gold. We wanted our décor to represent our love for our family and our classic tastes. With the help of my interior decorator mother, we built several of the pieces utilized in our wedding including the pillars adorning our aisles, seating chart, welcome sign, and more. Another item that I created that had special meaning on our wedding day, was the two journals I presented Jordan with before our vows. The books contained 365 reasons why I couldn’t wait to marry Jordan and be his wife. I began writing each note a year before our wedding and wrote a new message every day until June 20th 2015.

Our florist, Diane from Whimsey Floral, helped create a beautifully, classic romantic setting. I fell in love with my bouquet which was filled with peonies, hydrangea, garden roses, and astilbe and held my “something old” by having my great grandmother’s broach beautifully affixed to the front. This flower combination was used throughout our wedding including our ceremony backdrop, table centerpiece arrangements, and the boutonnieres of the groomsmen. After the wedding, our flowers were donated to Hospice By the Sea in Solana Beach, CA so they could continue to being joy to others after our day was over.

My bridesmaids wore long blush gowns paired with pearl bib necklaces and the groomsmen wore classic black suits with white ties interlaced with blush stripes. The only non-traditional aspect of our wedding was our choice of dessert. Although we did have a small delicious cake for the cake cutting, we chose to have an arrangement of tasty donuts which were decorated in edible gold pearls, blush icing, and glitter sprinkles. We topped our cake off with a custom made cake topper in the silhouette of Jordan and me and our two French bulldogs.

Jordan and I are lovers of the dance floor, so we danced the night away and made sure all of the guests were on the dance floor, including my 90 year old grandmother. Our DJ kept everyone going to the wee hours of the night. We wrapped up the evening with our getaway car which was a classic white Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Everything about our wedding day was so incredibly perfect. The hours that went into planning every detail was well worth it knowing that there was not one thing different we would have changed. We couldn’t have done it without the gracious help of our parents, vendors, and the staff at Santaluz.
