After six years, two states, and three apartments, this darling duo made it official in one wowza winery wedding. From The Bride...Trey and I met six years ago in Seattle where I grew up and where Trey went to medical school. After a few years of dating, I had the opportunity to take a job in San Francisco. Trey was fortunate enough to land a residency position in the Bay Area a year later, and after five years, two states, and three apartments, we were so excited to finally get engaged!
We wanted our wedding to feel like a destination wedding for our guests. We also love spending our weekends in wine country, so having our wedding in Sonoma Valley seemed like the ideal location. We’ve always dreamed of a romantic, intimate, outdoor wedding where we could celebrate with our closest friends and families. We stumbled upon Arista Winery on a weekend trip to Healdsburg and fell in love with the property. From the old oak trees to the beautiful pavilion overlooking the vineyards, it was perfect.
I loved the wedding planning process. Every single minute of it. We started the process by determining what was really important to us. For me, it was the photographer and the flowers. For Trey, it was the food, beer, and wine. We spent a lot of time selecting our vendors, and we were so lucky to have had such a great team to bring our visions to life.
We wanted our wedding to have as many personal touches as possible. I hand made the invitations, signs, and place cards. My mom and I also made s’mores kits and cinnamon rolls for our guests to enjoy the following morning. Trey selected several craft beers from local breweries and of course, we had excellent wine from Arista to pair with our entrees of beef short ribs and chicken breast.
I walked down the aisle to a guitarist playing “What a Wonderful World.” Trey’s stepfather officiated our ceremony, and we wrote our own vows. The ceremony was my absolute favorite part of the day. Another favorite memory was our first dance, which our friend, a professional ballroom dancer, helped us choreograph.
Our wedding day was truly a dream come true. I wish we could do it all over again!
