From Jillian Modern PhotographyThis bride is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with!

From The Bride…In March of 2007, during our sophomore year at George Washington University, Daniel and I ventured independently to 51st State Tavern in Washington, DC. It was a typical Tuesday night in Foggy Bottom, and little did we know, when we sat down at the same table, our lives would change forever.

New York City was where our real lives began. We became serious in the summer of 2007 when Daniel and I had our first college internships. He, at one of the top financial banks, and myself at a leading fashion brand. Our first dates and gatherings always took place in this magical city. For Dan’s first birthday celebrated together, I surprised him with his favorite bottle of wine and pizza and a horse and carriage ride around Central Park. It is a city of wonderful memories and marvelous firsts, so it only made sense to marry in our city.

Nature is where we both feel most comfortable. Dan is an avid golfer, always outside on the grass! I’m a swimmer and and we are both cyclists and skiers so Central Park is somewhere where we both find balance in the city! We definitely wanted nature to play a role in our wedding day experience and The Central Park Boathouse is a very visual natural space and that was the connection we felt immediately.

Our wedding began and ended with New York City touches. The save-the-dates were vintage New York City postcards illustrating Central Park and the famous New York City skyline; and our wedding reception concluded with a quintessential Central Park pretzel stand.

I am a lover of tradition. Whether it be family or religious, I love the idea of generations past celebrating in the same way. Our sunset Ketubah signing on the Central Park Boathouse deck overlooking Bethesda Fountain and The Lake surrounded by family and loved ones was a “pinch-me” moment. Next, I walked down the aisle towards my best-friend Daniel, carrying a my bouquet of white garden roses and seeded eucalyptus berries with the buttons from my grandmother’s honeymoon sweater and my great grandmother’s brooch pinned to the stem ribbon. Last, was the beautiful chuppah, under which I vowed my love to Daniel.
