Sparkling Calamigos Ranch Wedding
When your meet cute is at a friends wedding, there's no doubting you're starting off on the right foot. Prepped with an armor of romance for their very own Big Day, these two lovebirds had a soiree full of sparkling trees, a Jim Hjelm dress, charming bits like this and a romantic design by Everly Events. Our friends at Koman Photography snapped it all up beautifully here in THE VAULT!
From Everly Events…Jennifer and Colin are as perfect in person as they are in these photos. These two lovebirds, who met at a wedding of one of their close friends in Los Angeles 2 years ago, have such a beautiful relationship and it was the most amazing year spent with them helping them plan their perfect wedding! The two started off in a long distance relationship but it didn’t take long until Colin realized he was in love with Jen and the two finally crossed paths when Jen got a new job and was able to move from Dallas to Los Angeles! Not much after, the two were engaged when Colin proposed to her in Jen’s hometown of Portola Valley, where the two of them were attending a wedding, and so then their own wedding planning began!
The inspiration behind the day came from the desire to have a rustic, yet whimsical and romantic feel for the day. Given the natural beauty of Calamigos Ranch and our simple taste we wanted to keep things simple. We also wanted our character to really be evident so we included scripture, pictures throughout our relationship and monogrammed pieces. Jen’s beautiful dress was by the talented designer Jim Hjelm – she found this beauty at the JLM Couture Bridal Gown Boutique in Beverly Hills. Her bridesmaid’s dresses were from Bill Levkoff, where she chose a beautiful blush color but let the girls select from a variety of different styles.
Some of my personal favorite details that Jen incorporated into her wedding included the custom monogrammed sunglasses that allowed everybody to feel like there was an element of costume and dress up for the dance floor party, and also the adorable cocktail napkins that read "all you need is love." One very memorable and unforgettable aspect of the wedding was how much it ended up raining that day…in the middle of July and in a very serious drought here in Southern California!
Jen recalls, “There was no contingency plan for rain on our wedding day because it was the middle of July in Southern California and we were in a terrible drought! Nonetheless, we woke up on our wedding day to rain and very ominous looking clouds. As a bride who envisioned this day for 10 months, it was challenging at first to not feel upset that we had to change course and move our ceremony inside. Everyone kept telling us that rain was good luck and it was actually a blessing and I truly believe that it was. The rain created an intimate and unforgettable feeling for all of our guests. The love in the room was tangible and electric. The electricity manifested itself on the dance floor. Seeing all of the people whom we love the most gathered on the dance floor celebrating our love was unlike anything we have ever felt before.”
Colin and Jen live currently in Los Angeles in the quaint neighborhood of Brentwood. Colin works for an online expense reporting software company as a Business Analyst. Colin is also currently starting his second year of Business School at UCLA. Jen is a Management Consultant and works in a range of industries.
