From Erin McGinn…Erin and Paul’s wedding incorporated a true Block Island experience for all their guests and for their wedding photos. Traveling around the island from beaches to boardwalks and bluffs to greenways before heading back to the Spring House Hotel for the ceremony and reception was the perfect way to make sure each image held a piece of the place that is so special to them.
From the Bride… We chose Block Island because we are both from New England (Paul is from Rhode Island), love the ocean and wanted a mini-destination wedding to bring all of our friends and family together. During the summers, I grew up sailing on Cape Cod and Paul went to a lake in Maine, so we are both lovers of water activities and generally being outdoors. We were drawn to Block Island’s casual charm and unpretentious beauty, so it was perfect for us! (Also, Paul’s uncle has a house on Block Island where he and his partner, David, got married and we were taken by it!).
Our vision for our wedding is a mixture between elegant/formal and fun family affair. That’s why we specifically chose the Spring House! The beautiful views, farm to table food and vintage vibe are amazing, but we also wanted to be able to get down on a dance floor late into the evening
(outdoor venues shut down at 9pm). My parents also loved that our extended family could all stay close on the property, so that it would be a true family weekend. Both of our moms are one of eight children and both of our dads are one of five children, so needless to say, we have LARGE families and needed a place that could accommodate everyone. We have also been dating for seven years (through law school and long distance), so I think everyone is ready for a party.
