From The Bride… Danny and I met and fell in love at Penn in West Philadelphia. Additionally, I grew up a few miles from the city of brotherly love, so when looking for the ideal geographic location for our wedding, we immediately knew Philadelphia was the city.

We wanted our wedding to be unique, modern and most importantly, fun. The Hamilton Garden at the Kimmel Center provided the perfect venue to have a unique and modern wedding in a very accessible urban location. Additionally, the iron-chef caterer for the venue owns multiple famous restaurants in Philadelphia, including two of my groom’s favorite restaurants.

Although we know Philadelphia fairly well, we live in New York so we hired Rebecca Richman to assist us with local vendors. She really helped us put it all together and it is amazing to have someone who has been planning with you the whole time also be there on the day of the wedding.

It was very significant to us to have our wedding photos on Penn Campus and MK Photography captured it beautifully. The LOVE sign on Penn’s campus served as a background of our photos and the design for our cake topper!

For the fun factor of our wedding we made sure there was a large dance floor and hired an exceptional band. Eddie Bruce and his band keep the party going the whole time and no one stopped dancing. During the last hour of dancing, we gave out personalized neon sunglasses, which allowed everyone to show off their goofy-side a little!

Everyone is going to have opinions and every wedding is different, but do not let others tastes or style influence you or your vision. Also, if you are planning from another city, hire a wedding planner in the city/town you are getting married in. It was extremely helpful to have someone local help plan. Additionally, talk to as many people you know who were recently married in that city, it will help you navigate how to choose vendors.

Our “perfect wedding” vision was unique, modern,  and fun (with lots of food, drinks, and dancing)! We tried to incorporate unique details such as our LOVE Cake topper (Symbolic of Philly and Penn), Floral/square table design (very modern to fit the space), personalized sunglasses for our guests!

Our first dance was to LOVE by Nat King Cole.

The most memorable moment for us was walking in as Mr. and Mrs. into a beautiful room of family and friends. And, after the dance party, we left in a memorable sparkler exit and drove around our favorite city to take it all in. It was so meaningful to come back to the city where we fell in love and create a beautiful new memory there.
