From Katie Davis... Much of the time I use foraged materials as a starting place for design even when I'm incorporating florals that have been purchased into the arrangement. Foraging for floral design is largely an intuitive process. It's important to pay attention to what shapes inspire you. What grabs your attention? If you're noticing a specific branch or texture it's probably the thing that will make your whole arrangement come together.
The process should feel fluid, let the flowers and foliage do what they wants to do. Keep adding foliage, and then eventually the flowers, layering in texture and color until your arrangement feels done. Stand back and admire your artwork. Partnering with nature is the best!
