Giant Jenga, a seriously stunning duo saying “I do” and a tree-covered ceremony + reception that will blow your mind – this, loves, is how you marry, Washington Island style. Think lush florals from The Wayfarer Farm, a beautiful bride rockin’ a sweet BHLDN gown and a gallery of lovely images captured by Blue Rose Photography. Head to The Vault to soak it all in.
From Blue Rose Photography… Katherine is from Seattle, and Fredrik is from Stockholm, Sweden. They both live in Sweden together, but came back to the states to get married with a small intimate gathering of friends and family.
Katherine wore the most perfect lace BHLDN gown with pearls and white Prada shoes. Fredrik wore an amazing cobalt blue suit with bow tie. They had their first look overlooking the puget sound on Whidbey Island. The ceremony and reception took place on a local farm (The Wayfarer) where flowers from the farm were used for the decor and bouquets. Local Pies and catering were brought in.
Katherine herself is a firecracker! She was so funny and had us laughing the entire day. We soon learned she got this from her father. The entire party was a true celebration. It was laid back and fun and just the way a wedding should be. They even had a Swedish Lawn game for cocktail hour along with a giant Jenga.
From the Bride…Fredrik and I met during a once in a lifetime chance encounter. Los Angeles cowboy bars are not where you typically expect to find love, especially with a nice boy from Sweden. But on a fateful day in July our paths crossed and we have been in love ever since. Going the distance, was not only how we saw our love, but it was literally how we saw each other. For the first 5 months, each month we saved our pennies flew across the world. Thank goodness for Skype! But that all ended after Fredrik decided to call Los Angeles home. However after 365 days of sunshine, Fredrik and I packed our bags one last time and settled down in Stockholm. Sweden.
Living in such such a beautiful country, we wanted to share with Fredrik’s Swedish family and friends some of the beauty America has to offer. There was no better place than Whidbey Island, Washington. With Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the beautiful local farms as a back drop, Fredrik and I choose to get ready at the Inn at Langley and have the ceremony/reception at The Wayfarer Farm. Planning a wedding from such a distance was not easy, but with the help of my mom, Kelly from the Wayfarer, every detail I imagined came to fruition. The day was perfect, and was captured perfectly by Brittany and Joe from Blue Rose Pictures. We ate our hearts out with food from Chef Vincent at Orchard Kitchens, and pies from Whidbey Pie Co. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our day special, and one we will remember forever.
