Admittedly, I’m not a huge lover of blue. But when you tie together an array of cerulean, indigo and gray sky blue like so? This cool hue makes me want to toss my peach-loving ways out the door. Carmen Santorelli stood behind every beautiful blue moment we’ve tucked away in THE VAULT, including stunner bridesmaid dresses from Jenny Yoo, linens from La Tavola, tabletop rentals from Casa De Perrin and of course, a cozy seating area from Found Rentals.
From the Bride… Ray and I knew we wanted an outdoor spring wedding at a resort that didn’t feel like your typical hotel. We instantly fell in love with Rancho Valencia in Rancho Santa Fe, California. We loved that it was a small resort with a luxurious Mediterranean vibe. It went with the elegant, romantic, and cozy feel we wanted for our wedding and even complemented our color palette of navy and indigo with cream and blush accents.
For the big day, there were 3 separate outdoor spaces for us to celebrate: the Sunrise Terrace for the ceremony, the Fountain Courtyard for cocktail hour, and the Croquet Lawn for dinner and dancing. With rain in the forecast the entire weekend, we were taking a huge risk having everything outdoors with no backup plan, but the rain miraculously disappeared come Saturday morning and there was not a single drop from the sky the rest of the weekend!
We had a vision of everyone dancing under the stars, with the space lit up by candles and twinkling lights. Our wedding planners, Francine Ribeau and Danielle Ehrlich, brought this vision to life on the Croquet Lawn. They created a giant room by enclosing the lawn with hedges, and made a canopy out of twinkling lights that went over the entire space. All the details, big and small – the live band, the carefully curated lounge furniture and table settings, the gorgeous flowers by Sweet Marie Designs, my own calligraphy work, the cake and cookie favors (shipped all the way from Momofuku Milk Bar in Brooklyn) – were executed to perfection. It made for a truly magical and unforgettable day with our families and friends.
