From Bobilee Shahine.... This was one of those dream weddings where I established a relationship with the gorgeous bride (Kristy) whereby she gave me complete trust to do whatever I wanted and make it colourful. Would you believe we actually never met before the wedding and now her husband has a tattoo loosely based on my work (deer antler arbour) on his forearm!
I LOVE and understand colour and when ordering flowers for weddings, often order 1 or 2 things I want to use and then leave it to fate, nature and what flowers are looking STUNNING that day to bring together. It can be a bit stressful working this way but it also gives me a lot of flexibility to not be disappointed if something I ordered doesn't come in.
It doesn't work for every bride because I actually cannot tell you what your flowers are going to look like. I work instinctually and to vague briefs. I get brides to send me pics of things they like to get a clear picture of their overall style. I actually have no formal florist training - EEEEKKK! The truth comes out, but I studied fashion and textile design, I am a stylist and artist and feel like flowers are just another medium for that... Been at them for 6 years now so I probably can say I'm a florist now?
I thoroughly enjoyed making these bouquets as with the freedom Kristy gave me, this is what came out... Pure love, a mini festival of flowers for a delightful human to carry on one of her most important and memorable days of her life. I like to think these flowers got the party started. They are FUN and were an absolute joy to make.
