Rustic Lake Hodges Engagement

There is nothing like lovely light and a lovely couple to put a big 'ol smile on my face. I'm a total sucker for both, so these images from Aga Jones Photography are totally speaking my language. It's everything I love about engagement sessions tied up in a pretty little bow, and you can see it all here.

From The Bride...This is the story of how we got engaged :)

Sunday morning NOV 10th, 2013...Chris woke me up early ready to take on the day. He was eager to get out of the house and do something, which is pretty much the norm. On weekends we like to hike in the early morning fog at the lake by our place, or go for a walk on the beach. I got up; we packed some snacks, our tri-pod and camera. Chris LOVES bringing his camera everywhere to document memories, so there was nothing unusual about this morning.

Once in the car Chris gave me the choice of going to the beach, or the lake by our house. I said the beach (although he said he would have taken me to the beach regardless of what I chose haha). We arrived at the beach (Grandview) and it was a BEAUTIFUL day, the water was glassy, the sky was clear and best of all the crowds had yet to arrive. We took it all in and then made our way down the steps to Grandview like we had so many times before. We walked and talked about how special Grandview is to us. We used to come to Grandview when we first started dating and just talk for hours. It’s where I fell in love with Chris.

We walked down the beach for a while took a few scenic pictures, then Chris suggested getting a picture of us. Chris setup the tri-pod/camera and directed me where to stand so that we could get the water and the skyline in the picture. I waited anxiously for him to finish and asked him to hurry up so we could continue on our walk. He finally got the camera all set up and hit the auto timer. Chris started walking towards me VERY slowly. I told him to hurry because I knew he only had 10 seconds before the timer would go off and he would not make it in the picture! Once he finally got by my side he stopped and got on one knee… my heart stopped at that moment and my mind went blank! He started talking and nervously took the ring out of his pocket. Of course, Chris being the artsy creative guy he is, he designed my engagement ring himself. Everything about it tells a story… he nervously told me about the meaning behind every little detail. I have NEVER seen Chris so nervous in my entire life! His hand was shaking as he asked me to marry him! In the meantime I kept saying the only thing that was circulating in my head haha “are you serious!?” I couldn’t comprehend that THIS was FINALLY happening (I mean seriously, it had been 5.5 years!). In all the excitement I realized that I had not said “yes” yet (poor guy). So of course, I said YES and I gave him a hug and kiss and took the ring.

After the shock wore off I remembered we were actually taking a picture. At first I thought he had only pretended to set the timer since I didn’t notice if the camera ever went off. Apparently Chris had set the camera to take 1 picture every 5 seconds for 1 minute. He told me that he rehearsed the night before and practiced his timing and approach so the pictures would come out just right. To my amazement he somehow documented the moment perfectly, the pictures are priceless.
